I have suspected that there is very little quality control over fish oils. I have smelled, tasted, and belched, until I decided to go directly to cold water wild salmon, and nothing farmed.

I agree. Apart from the ones that can be prescribed, fish oils are subject to limited regulation. As I understand it, much is made from ground up sand eels, dredged from the sea bottom. I’d expect that reputable suppliers take far more care in the sourcing and quality control, but the evidence for health benefits are stronger for fish than supplements for those of us without cardiovascular disease.
